Abstract
Transference has been paying most attention to the relationship between the analyst and the patient. But another aspect of the patient¡¯s relation to the analyst was discussed by some authors. They named the concepts ¡¯treatment alliance¡¯ or ¡¯working alliance¡¯. These concepts were focused on the patient¡¯s ego function to carry the appropriate psychoanalytic process. In contrast with transference, these concepts included rational and realistic components of the relationship between the patient and the analyst. The author reviewed these concepts and also tried to apply these concepts to the psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
